A cold one after another great flight to Lakeview. Hunters LZ, Summer 2008. , by Debbie Johnson-Jackson was started by local pilots Derk Steggewetz and Roger Jackson to bring together information on one website about flying, weather, camping and recreating in the Lakeview and the "greater Warner Mountain area".

   In the early 80's, Derk's father taught him to hang glide. While only owning motorcycles, but still wanting to fly, in the early 90's he learned to paraglide as well. He has lived in Surprise Valley for 7 years now but started coming to the area to fly hang gliders and paragliders for some years before.

   Roger learned to fly HG in 1986. He first flew Black Cap in 1989 and Sugar Hill in 1990, He has flown Sugar Hill every year since then. Roger and his wife Debbie, also a pilot, have owned property in Modoc county since 1992 and have spent a lot of time exploring and flying the area.
